50 - 1000 MHz, 1.5 W Power Amplifier using the TAT8888 (Qorvo)
The CATV Line Amplifier from Qorvo offers high gain (24 dB) as well as high power
over a large bandwidth. Unfortunately the datasheet does not specify the maximum available power when using for a single carrier.
You may do some sophisticated guess, based on the current consumption. Or you use our measurements.
Circuit Description
The Circuit uses a GVA-81+ from Mini-Circuits as a driver (+10 dB), operated directly at the +24V
(+28 V) Supply via two 100 Ω, 3 W Resistors. The output of this driver is ac-coupled to the input of the CATV Amplifier TAT8888 from
Qorvo (Mouser, 772-TAT8888, CHF 86.-, 07/2023). The capacitors are not critical. We use 4.7 µF, 1206, for ac-coupling of the stages.
The coil for biasing the GVA-81+ is a BLM31AJ601SN1L (Murata), obtained from Farnell.
In case you need more Gain, you mayst exchange the GVA-81+ with a GALI-74+ or anything else. (Check Bias Resistors !)

1 dB Compression Point
The figure below shows, that compression starts at an input level of + 18 dBm / + 11 dBm.
Data measured at f = 200 MHz and 750 MHz. Supply : 28 V, 650 mA.
Maximum Output Power is +33 dBm = 1 W.
Frequency Response : S21
✈ Summary
This Amplifier offers a poor Frequency Response as well as a curly Amplitude Response.
Nothing to write home about. Use it at a single Frequency, when your budget is small.
